Does anyone else find it really strange that the same week that Indiana Jones is in a plane crash,
that archaeologists find a lost civilization in Honduras? A Possible “Lost City of The Monkey God”?
Ritualistic cannablism, human sacrifice to monkey deities, were-jaguars, Non-Mayan ancient culture…?!?! And check this one out-
Every year a “perfect young man, usually a priest (imagine that) would be selected to be the Monkey God for a year, and was able to glut himself on wine, young women, etc. At the end of 12 months he would be brutally slaughtered, heart ripped out and tiny pieces of his heart would be consumed by all worshippers. Fascinating. Repulsive on several levels, but fascinating none-the-less.
Tell me that doesn’t sound eerily similar to “Temple of Doom”. I have goosebumps just thinking about it.
How completely fascinating would it be to be able to explore an area that “looks to have been untouched by humans for at least 600 years”?
I can’t wait to follow this story. Such fun being a history nerd sometimes!
(And so much better than watching those ISIS assholes destroy people and history. I have no words strong enough for what filth they are.)
